Description
When restoring historic or traditional buildings, choosing the right shade of mortar is key to achieving a sympathetic finish. At Limebase, we pride ourselves on offering a wide range of colours to ensure repairs blend seamlessly with original materials. Our GM272 Grey Lime Putty Mortar is a medium grey option, just a few shades paler than GM110 (A dark grey option), and is particularly suited for projects requiring a medium grey tone.
This mortar is produced by slaking quicklime to create a matured lime putty, which is then mixed with a carefully graded mixture of sand, grit, and stonedust. The result is a highly workable, breathable mortar that delivers both strength and durability. Its medium grey finish allows conservation professionals to match existing masonry mortars more closely, helping repairs remain visually unobtrusive.
With over 20 years of expertise, Limebase mortars have been used in the restoration of prestigious buildings such as Salisbury Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, and the Tower of London. Like all our mixes, GM272 is precision blended using lime from Singleton Birch in Lincolnshire, ensuring consistent performance and colour quality.
Our GM272 Grey Lime Putty Mortar is available in 25kg bags, 500kg bags or 1000kg bags. For larger scale or local works, we can arrange bulk delivery upon request. At Limebase, our goal is to provide heritage-compatible lime mortars that preserve and protect the fabric of our built environment for years to come.
